Collaborative Tudor Facelift that Embraces Tradition

Challenge: The home’s interior had already been extensively updated for modern family living. It was now time for this traditional Tudor style home to undergo an exterior makeover.

Approach: Brought into the project by Prairie Outpost Garden Design Inc., the goal was to update the home’s traditional façade to merge with the new landscape plan that restructured the home’s topography, as well as brick architectural structures and concrete entrance stairs. While it was exciting to be part of a Tudor modernization, it was equally important that our contribution to the project be respectful to the classic architecture of a Tudor home. The batten and metal trim colours were thoughtfully selected to breath new life into an existing aged cedar pergola, that added the organic touch the house needed. A soft cream colour for the stucco gave a distinctive lift to the home. The new palette was the perfect compliment to the medium toned brick cladding and sandstone retaining walls. A new stain for the existing oak front door, along with updated lighting and iron railings brought modern elegance to the finishing touches.

Result: Traditionally, a visually heavy architectural style, this Tudor home finds it’s softer side, giving it modern relevance.
